Please don't take my signs!

We are only a week or so into the campaigning "race" for City Council in Greensboro and this weekend about 10 of my candidate signs have already been taken! This happened in 2007 but it was not prevalent until close to the General Election.

For anyone who is taking my signs I am hoping you will stop! We all have favorite candidates, but I would never dream of taking or defacing another candidates' signs.

If you would like one of my signs for your location please feel free to email me at abuzuaiter@aol.com. If anyone sees someone taking my signs, please call me at #314-9620.

regards,

"Here we go..."

Well, I "almost" won in the 2007 election, but "almost" is not a winner!

I can assure you that I will do everything in my power to win the 2009 election. A taste of politics can make one hungry for believing that one person CAN make a difference by listening to and interacting with voters so that their voices CAN be heard. After attending almost every single City Council meeting from April 2007to now, I can assure you that I will do my utmost to be a professional, stable addition to City Council if elected to serve as an At-large Councilperson.

Over the last two years I have enjoyed my work in the community - graduated from the "Government Works - A City Academy" (which I highly recommend for all citizens) and IMPACT Greensboro which enlightened me and gave me some insight to the challenges many of our Greensboro residents encounter on a daily basis. I am a member of EMMA - the East Market Merchants Association; the Greensboro Landlords Association and the N.E. Concerned Citizens along with LYFE (Love, Youth, Faith and Empowerment) an anti-gang initiative for youth. I have participated in "National Night Out" (the next one is scheduled for this Tuesday August 4, 2009)and completed a "ride-a-long" with a police officer. I was appointed to the Human Relations Commission and am a member of the Montgomery/Wells Housing Committee.

Does it sound like I have "too much on my plate"? No...I am passionate about Greensboro and find that the more I am involved in, the more I become energized to create change from the voices of our residents. Do we need change? Of course! And I hope to be part of that change.

WHAT A YEAR!

2007 was exciting, challenging, rewarding, educational and inspiring for me! I gained hundreds (actually thousands) of new friends, acquaintances and supporters. There is nothing to regret!

Of course, there was disappointment in losing the General Election by a few hundred votes, but I would not give up the life experience it gave me for ANYTHING! I am now inspired to continue my quest to become a public servant and truly believe it will happen some day.

I was just chosen to be a participant in the IMPACT Greensboro project and I have several other "irons in the fire". Not only will these groups help keep me abreast of concerns in the community but will also keep me involved with others who want to make a difference.

My wish for each of you in 2008 is that you prosper, have good health and that we can all come together with solutions to help Greensboro become a better place one step at a time - because now IS the time!

I'm A WINNER!

No, not in the sense of winning the election, although the last numbers I saw today showed that I had gained some votes!

I have come from this election and the experience of campaigning as a big winner with new friends, new insights and new ideas to bring forth to the community in the future. I can honestly say that the phone calls, emails and cards have not stopped coming - all wishing me well and encouraging me to continue in my quest to help make Greensboro a better place.

I have decided to volunteer, as time permits, to help in some segment of the community to hopefully make a difference in my own small way.

I also look forward to watching the new City Council and hope they can find ways to fulfill all their campaign promises. Won't it be grand?

"The Future Awaits"

After coming "out of nowhere" in the Primary and then only three and a half weeks to the General Election, this has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life! I truly feel that I have 15,077 new friends and I am honored and humbled that each of them voted for me in the General Election. The cards, emails and notes I have received in the last couple of days have all been so uplifting and encouraging!

I shall continue on my quest to make Greensboro a better place and will continue to keep my posts here on my blog. To each of you, I thank you from the bottom of my heart and want you to know how appreciative I am of each and every vote. We almost made it!

Sincerely,

"Just the FACTS, ma'am"

It has been a long, rewarding campaign! And to come out of "nowhere" and win a candidate spot in the Primary showed me that the citizens of Greensboro are wanting a major change in their city government.

As a last comment before the Election tomorrow, I will give you the FACTS:

F = I can assure you that I will be FAIR and will do my best to be open-minded and make educated and well-researched decisions concerning issues brought before the City Council.

A = I will be ACTIVE in trying to make Greensboro a better place to live.

C = I will seek CHANGE if it will be for the betterment of our citizens.

T = I will gain your TRUST as I vote on issues which concern taxpayers in every part of the city.

S = I will have the STRENGTH to stand up for what I believe to be every taxpayer's rights.

Truly, I believe government is suppposed to SERVE the people, and I hope to become your Public Servant tomorrow, November 6, 2007.

Thank you!

"Sign deletion"

Only two days left until the election and there is a "rash" of incidents involving our political signs. Several candidates are having "sign deletion" going on where they had placed their signs in prominent locations - I am one of those candidates!

Is this a "sign" of the times? Are those who are stealing the signs trying to gain votes for their candidate or is it a group of youngsters who are fascinated with the signs and are going to post them in their bedrooms? I certainly hope it is the latter and that we will all wake up tomorrow and find that the signs have miraculously reappeared in their proper locations because their parents made them take them back.

Unfortunately, I believe we will be replacing signs for the next two days and hope we can keep up with the "sign deleters".

Please vote November 6 and I hope you will vote for me.
Thank you!
